Knowledge Base Guide
Build an effective knowledge base for your AI agents
Be Specific and Focused
Provide concentrated, relevant information. Avoid large, unfocused documents with irrelevant details.
Quality over Quantity
A few high-quality, targeted documents are far more effective than dozens of irrelevant ones.
Keep It Updated
Regularly review and update your knowledge sources to ensure your agent provides current and accurate information.
Use for Quick, Direct Info
Ideal for FAQs, company policies, specific instructions, or short product descriptions.
Clear Formatting
Use clear headings, lists, and short paragraphs. This helps the AI understand the structure of the information.
Avoid Vague Language
Be explicit and unambiguous. Instead of "usually," provide specific conditions or timeframes.
Crucial Tip: Be Specific!
The agent extracts content from the single URL you provide. **Do not use a generic homepage link.** Instead, link directly to the specific blog post, product page, or documentation article.
One Link, One Topic
Each web link should focus on a single, coherent topic. If your website has multiple pages of information, add each one as a separate link.
Avoid Pages Requiring Login
The agent cannot log in to access content. Ensure all links are publicly accessible.
Use Searchable PDFs and Text Files
Files where text can be selected and copied work best. Scanned image-only PDFs are less effective as the AI cannot read the text within the images.
Prefer Structured Documents
Documents with clear titles, headings, and lists (like product manuals, research papers, or reports) are easier for the agent to understand and reference accurately.
Avoid Very Large, Unfocused Files
If you have a 500-page manual, consider splitting it into smaller, more focused chapters or sections. This helps the agent find the exact information it needs more quickly.
